Dear Student Organization Leaders,
As we kick off another exciting academic year, the Division of Academic Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (ADEI) is thrilled to announce a new event during Week of Welcome (WOW) called Culture Fest 2024 “Do it for the Culture.” This vibrant celebration of diversity and talent will be held during Wednesday, August 20th from 4:00 – 6:00 pm in the MLK Commons and we would love for your student organization to be a part of it!
Culture Fest is a great opportunity for student organizations to showcase their unique artistic talents, and creativity. Whether through music, dance, fashion, or any other form of expression, your performance will help us highlight the rich diversity that makes our campus community so special.
How You Can Participate:
- Performances: We are looking for performances that represent your traditions, or unique artistic talents. Each group will have approximately 2-3 min to perform.
- Showcase Booths: If your organization prefers to set up a booth, we welcome displays of cultural artifacts, information about your group, and interactive activities that engage the campus community.
If your organization is interested in participating, please complete the registration form by August 19th.
Should you have any questions or need more information, feel free to reach out to Center for Black Studies (CBS) centerblackstudies@niu.edu or Dr. Christopher Mitchell cmitchell11@niu.edu.
